It was with very little expectation we sallied forth on todays walk which was a repeat of yesterday. The challenge, apart from getting round another 5k, was to find something else to show you from Lima Peru.
I am actually reasonably satisfied in what we found. It is amazing what you spot when you start looking. Things I had never really noticed before. Let me start with this tree. I really feel that there must be some drugs buried under this tree otherwise how did it decide to grow it's branches like that?A bit further on, on the other side of the road we spotted something that turned out to be the Olympic memorial where Peru's sporting heroes are remembered. The guy on the right is Edwin Vasquez Cam who won Gold in the 50m pistol shoot at the London Olympics in 1948. This is to date Peru's only Olympic Gold. The dude in the middle is the Olympic President, much less impressive.
Andres Avelino Aramburu y Salinas was an "illustrious journalist" and as such was honoured with a lovely memorial park and a nice monument. It was on the occasion of 100 years since his birth in 1883. I am not sure if he lived that long or they just chose that day to give him a park. Not much good to you after you are gone though. Still it's the thought that counts.
So to conclude another exciting episode of A k a day in Lima we round of with today's Strava which to be fair looks a lot like yesterdays and quite a few to come. If you are still reading then you must have found something of interest. It is enlightenment to me.
Lima over but not out.
