A k a day in Lima Peru (Day 2)

Day 2 and it is another beautiful day here in Lima. Sundays in Lima are still on total lockdown to try to curb the spread of the COVID virus. Lima is a long way behind UK in terms of vaccine but the pogram has begun and people are getting slowly done. So the challenge was to cover 5K in the confines of our own home.

Luckily we have  30m long corridor downstairs and another one upstairs leading out to the back balcony.

All in all the round trip was measured at almost exactly 100m so 50 "laps" were needed to cover the 5K. Oh yes and did I mention 50 times up and down the stairs? No? Well we had to negotiate that too.

The Strava App was a little bit confused by our chosen route this morning but it valiantly tried to record our every move and produced something that looks a bit like the plates of tinned spaghetti I remember from my childhoood.

A glimpse of life in Lima today

It was pretty difficult to collect any images of interest on route so I have added a few taken from the front and back balconies.

From the front looking southwest

The Pentagonito

If you went straight in this direction just on the horizon you would find the Pacific Ocean and if you kept going you would eventually reach New Zealand where my son is also doing this challenge. With my daughther also participating in Bahrain this is not only an international but a truly an intercontinental effort.

Nobody on the walkway today

Looking Northwest

And a few more form the other side

The Pan Americano Highway - usually jam packed with vehicles

Foot hills of the Andes. There are much higher mountains behind those you can see but they are rearely visible from here. We used to live in the leftmost of the two tall buildings in the distance.

A few essential workers and probably a few chancers out and about today
