A k a day in Lima Peru (Day 17)

Another day, another 5k added to the total. We are fast approaching 100 km which is exciting. Today we were needing some cash so we walked to El Polo shopping centre to el banco to withdraw some money. I get paid in US Dollars but the local currency here is Soles (pronounced like lollies but with an S and which translates as suns). Every time I withdraw we have to change some dollars into soles and we go the the local casa de cambio "house of change" to do the business. There are actually street cashiers whose job is to exchange money. They stand with wads of the stuff usually outside the banks and transact. They do a fair exchange rate and we have used them often if it was more convenient. It reminds me of the fact that I used to work in the bank and local shopkeepers would come in to exchange maybe a £20 note for 50p pieces. They would ask me, "could you change that into 50s for me please". If I knew the customer well I would say "abracadabra, alacazam change into 50s" and then I'd look at them blankly saying "sorry, no I can't". That is true by the way it is not made up.

On the way back I managed one photo opportunity when we passed the dog training pen. Not very exciting but it is colourful.

The fence rails are all bone shaped and there are lots of obstacles inside to keep the pooches and their owners amused. The pampered pooches here are common. They all wear doggy coats in the "winter" here and sometime even little bootees. I don't get it.
We spotted this bush the other day and, what I felt was pretty amazing is that there are three clear colours of flower, an orange (naranja) a red (rojo or roja depending on whether the red thing is a boy or a girl thing) and rosa (pink) but they are definitely all on the same plant. It is all one big bush. We saw some trees with distinctly red and yellow (amarillo or amarilla again depending) flowers on the same tree too. Are you enjoying your Spanish lessons? I am not entirely sure why some colours change but green is verde irrespective of the gender of the green thing being described.

Here is a random archive image taken when we were in the Lovers Park on the Malecon. Rather symbolic.
So rather short and sweet again today . Let us see what tomorrow brings. Of course we have the customary Strava to add which has an interesting shape today as we had to do a slight loop at the end to get the distance up to the required target.

Och aye the noo followers.
