A k a day in Lima Peru (Day 20)

Day 20 sees us at the two thirds distance mas o menos (more or less - more free Spanish lessons for you) and we are a smidgeon under 110 km in total. It was only 18 degrees today and the sun pretty much failed to break through the clouds. Today we doubled up our walk with an errand to the bank and the chemist and on the way back we took another wee detour to see what we could find for you.

Our slightly detoured route took us past the American Embassy. I was a touch wary of snapping these pics in case some big burly officer of the law accused me of some kind of misdemeanour. We also walked past the Campus that Nicola should be working in. It is rather non-descript and doesn't really look much like a school.
The school starts behind the big building in the first picture and goes all the way down to the building in the far distance the one in the right hand picture. That is the bit that, theoretically, Nicola works in. The school has just awarded a contract to a builder for a state of the art new building on this campus. It will focus mainly on the end that Nicola doesn't work in.
On the way I snapped another of these bushes with distinctly different colours of flower on the same branch. Must be a thing here!
While we are on a floral theme the Peruvians go all out when it is a funeral. The hearse is usually followed by a couple of large vans that are covered, and I mean covered on the side by huge wreaths. We passed the wreath shop and again I surreptitiously got the camera out.
As a further update on the dentist trip, she asked me to get a panoramic X-ray done so that she can check me out fully. She gave me a form with a list of establishments who do this kind of thing. Sheila had exactly the same thing done after her first dental visit so we knew where to go and what to expect. I sent an email this morning, got my appointment for 1 pm today and I left the office clutching the x-rays at 1.10pm. The results are also sent electronically to the dentist. What a service. I go back on Monday to get my crowns fitted. Cost of X-ray? Eighty soles S/80 about £15.

We finally made contact with the internet guys who have (via our landlord) been promising to come and install our high speed service for several weeks now. They have admitted that they do not yet have all the digging permissions so we are still having to wait. Let us hope that they get the paperwork sorted out soon.

OK that's all the excitement I can give you on a single day because I know that most of my readers can hardly contain themselves waiting for the next episode. I will leave you with the strava and a pledge to return with more morsels of life in Lima.

Take care y'all
